PORT LIMITS/INFORMATION

Maximum Depths - (Brackish)
 
Harbor entrance –  36’08 – up to 39’08 with tide is straight out of the Pilot book it is very unlikely that a plus 3 foot tide is ever available.  We recommend no more that plus 1 foot over the 36’08” restriction so that vessel can easily get in on at least one plus slack water almost every day or the year.

Berth 7 -  38’10”
Berth 8 - 36'08"

The restrictions for docking at Port Manatee are as follows.  However, please contact the agents for any vessel with a draft of 36’06 to confirm actual tidal restrictions, as they change daily.
 
Tampa Bay Pilots guidelines and/or handling for recommendations for vessels transiting the main shipping channel:
 
Draft: To From Sea
Draft less than 30 ft docking or sailing anytime
30 ft to 35 ft require 0.5 knot current or less for docking or sailing
Greater than 35 ft requires slack water
 
Draft: Shifts to or from the north
Draft less than 27 ft  - Anytime
27 to 33 Ft – current 0.3 Knots or less
Draft greater than 33 Ft - Slack water
 
Max LOA 900 ft
Vessels between 700 and 800 feet require less than 0.5 kt current anytime
Vessels 800 ft and over require slack water for all movements
 
Only 1 vessel with draft greater than 36 ft per slack water movement

FEDERAL, STATE & LOCAL FILING REQUIREMENTS


96 Hours - advance notice of arrival required by USCG
72 Hours - The Harbormasters office requires a 72 hour minimum notice of a vessel arrival. Any time less than 72 hours will be considered short notice and could result in vessel's delay to berth.
48 Hours - advance receipt of crew list by Immigration for any vessel arriving from a foreign port, or arriving coast wise with detained crew.
24 Hours (minimum) - Foreign cargo must have manifest submitted to Customs & Border Patrol AMS.
24 Hours - advance fax of crew list and approved visitors required by Port Security Officer.
Port Security - All persons doing ship’s business within Port Manatee must have TWIC and a Port-issued ID Badge.  Someone not having one or both must be escorted.  Vehicles must have permanent company markings to be allowed onto any terminal.

MARINE WEATHER: 934 AM EST Tue Dec 31 2019      .SYNOPSIS...A cold front extends from south Florida to near 22N89W  then becomes stationary to low pres near 21N95W. The cold front  will stall later today. The low and accompanying boundary will  then lift northward through Wed, dissipating over the northwest  Gulf by Thu. A strong cold front will move off the Texas coast  Thu night. This front will reach from the Florida Panhandle to the  Bay of Campeche by Fri evening, and push south and east of the  Gulf Sat. Expect increasing winds and building seas across the  Gulf both ahead of, and behind, the front as it shifts across the  Gulf waters.    $$
